Today’s aerospace manufacturers use composites that can be both expensive and difficult to machine. When a top-tier aerospace manufacturer began to develop an operation for working with a new high-performance material, they looked to AMAMCO Tool to supply a tool for training their people.

Composites are lighter and stronger than ever. With this in mind, AMAMCO Product Support Manager Brad Boisher worked directly with engineers and plant supervisors to devise a solution specific to the material. By observing new employees training to drill composites, Brad was able to make recommendations for optimum geometries and tool life.

The new drill reamer, with its unique geometries, makes it possible to drill precisely to print holes, with excellent repeatability from hole to hole, tool durability, and almost no delamination or exit burr.
