When the leading fighter jet manufacturer changed their aircraft manufacturing process, necessitating drilling out through the face-down OML (outer mold line), it was necessary to explore custom tool options. A PCD drill made adequate holes, but the process was slow and the tools were expensive. Having enjoyed good results with an AMAMCO diamond-coated compression router, the manufacturer looked to us for a new drilling solution.

We developed this diamond-coated composite drill that drills 12.5 times faster than the PCD drill and lasts 4.36 times longer.

We also make an uncoated version of this tool (which also outperforms PCD), and a straight fluted version (our most popular composite drill).
